Menopause in the Workplace: A Health & Performance Priority

Why Menopause Matters at Work

  • Menopause is a critical workplace issue.
  • Unmanaged symptoms lead to 1 in 10 women leaving their jobs, impacting retention, productivity, and gender equity.
  • It also increases chronic health risks.
  • Early support improves long-term health and keeps women thriving.

As a Menopause Specialist Nurse, Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner, and author of Lady Talk, I leverage 30+ years in health to help organizations support midlife women with evidence-based strategies, boosting wellbeing, performance, and retention.

Book me to speak and start building a menopause-friendly workplace where women—and businesses—flourish.

Why Every Organisation That Includes Women Needs Menopause Education

Confident women create confident teams.

When menopause symptoms go unmanaged, their impact goes far beyond the woman’s personal experience — this also affects team focus, productivity, sick leave rates, team dynamics, confidence, and long-term health.

Many women suffer in silence with hot flushes, brain fog, fatigue, pelvic floor symptoms, and increased anxiety — all while trying to maintain their professional roles. Many struggle because they don’t recognise the symptoms or know that help is available. Education is key.

  • Cognitive changes can affect brain function, decision-making and memory.
  • Confidence dips may lead to missed problem solving, promotions or early resignation.
  • Pelvic floor issues and preventable chronic diseases (like cardiovascular disease and diabetes) often emerge during this time, affecting absenteeism and future workforce participation.

By understanding menopause and its impacts — and learning practical strategies to manage them — organisations can raise awareness, boost retention, reduce burnout, and support healthier, more empowered female staff from midlife and beyond.

Overview

These talks help women navigate menopause and find effective solutions for feeling better at work. My keynotes elevate the conversation by addressing healthy aging and empowering women to not only look after their own well-being but also to openly discuss the more taboo topics of pelvic health in the workplace.

Lynda is a confident public speaker who delivers engaging presentations that motivate and inspire women to improve their daily wellbeing and longevity in the workplace in midlife and beyond.

Lynda describes the science around perimenopause, how to manage the symptoms and why it is important to stop and reflect on our lifestyle choices as we enter the gateway to aging.

Lynda provides insight into the rawness of chronic disease in NZ hospitals and the demonstrates ways you can keep well and out of hospital.

Overview

Lady Talk workshops are a follow up to the Keynote talks where action steps are taken by the staff to feel better each day. Think of it like a shared medical appointment where the following health outcomes are met with a more personalised small group approach.

What to expect

Examples:

In a room with desks and and a notebook each participants would be provided with a checklist of:

  • Menopausal symptoms
  • Pelvic health risk factors
  • Lifestyle pillars

This would help them to identify areas where they may need to see me personally as a health professional and what we can focus on collectively as a group to improve health outcomes. The main focus is on identifying risk factors/symptoms/lifestyle changes and taking steps to improve their daily wellbeing and longevity in the workplace as a group.

Health outcomes short and long term:

  • Raised awareness and understanding of women’ s health issues
  • Healthier, more confident female staff
  • Improved daily health, wellbeing and longevity in the workplace.
  • Women feeling seen, heard, and understood
  • Reduced absenteeism and presenteeism
  • Increased productivity
  • Stronger retention and engagement in midlife women
  • A positive, inclusive culture that supports this lifestage.

NB: A follow up in 3 months would be recommended to assess changes made.
